Rock Star Kidz Camp

This camp is similar to the popstar camp but students will be working in groups to understand the dynamics of a band. We will study how instruments work together to create music.

Children will explore what it means to work together in a rock band.  They will create their own band name, look, and attributes to not only act as rock stars but as role models in the public eye. Students will learn how to use the stage, microphones and entertain an audience while performing.  They will pick their favorite from a band  to work with to explore their new rock star selves.

Children will be singing/playing along with a track unless they feel comfortable enough to try it karaoke style.  No experience playing an instrument needed. We will be mock playing instruments just to get the look and feel of a rock band.

This will just be a fun experience to rock out to their favorite song while getting used to a stage, mic, instruments, movement and ensemble group playing all rolled up into one.  We will also be filming a music video.

Meet Abby Huskisson

We are so excited to introduce Abby Huskisson to our Wagner Summer Theater team. She is currently our music director for our spring production of our Greatest Showman Revue! Abby is a Music Ed graduate (almost) from Drake. She has a wealth of experience with children's theater. She is from Downers Grove, Illinois where she worked with BAM Theater for 4 summers. Abby has also worked with iTheatrics in New York City helping develop junior versions of Broadway musicals to be pushed out to schools. Her work there involved producing the play with children to make sure it was ready for market use on our nation's school circuit. Abby has also been the music director of an all access high school choir which brought together special education students with general students to create music. The best part about Abby is her AMAZING voice! She recently was one of a select few chosen via audition to study music education in Milan, Italy.
